1099-B Form

Form 1099-B is a tax form issued by the Internal Revenue Service.

Form 1099-B is a tax form issued by the Internal Revenue Service. Form 1099-B is sent to individual investors by the broker that handled the transaction to report gains and losses from the sale of stocks, bonds, derivatives, or other securities. Information from Form 1099-B is used to fill out your income tax return form under Schedule D and Form 8949, if applicable. Form 1099-B is primarily concerned with identifying tax lots and determining capital gains taxes or capital gains losses from the sale of assets, including both short and long-term capital gains tax. Form 1099-B can also be used to report barter exchange transactions, which are transactions that are based on an agreement to trade property or services without a trade of currency.
